Manifest Acanto

Environmental, Social, and Cultural Idea

An Acanto, we believe inhabiting a territory means protecting it.

Located in San Pedro de los Milagros, our wildlife refuge guards the high Andean cloud forest and its vital water sources. We work actively to expand the biological corridor for the critically endangered Atlapetes blancae.

Conservation here is inseparable from community. We walk hand-in-hand with local farming families, honoring their ancestral knowledge and promoting sustainable local economies.

We don't impose; we integrate and learn.

We invite visitors to a conscious experience—to inhabit the forest with respect and reduce their footprint. Here, tourism serves as a tool for education and transformation. By honoring rural culture and the rhythms of the earth, we foster harmony between humans and nature.

For us, conservation is a daily commitment; every small action is a seed for the future of life.

A glimpse into the daily life at Refugio Acanto

"A transformative experience. I've been to bird sanctuaries all over the world, but none have the soul and serenity of Refugio Acanto. It's as if time slows down here."
